My wife Frances and I have been visiting Italy since our honeymoon in 1989. Our trips have been across Italy but have concentrated in Tuscany and Umbria. Despite having visited close to 40 times we have thirsted for something more permanent. This resulted in perhaps five years of searching for possible properties to purchase. The problems with full ownership were hard to overcome however as we have only 3-5 weeks of annual vacation before retirement, property management seemed daunting from afar and, while we appreciate beautiful surroundings, we hardly had any interest in partaking in the upkeep of property during our time away.We first heard about Borgo di Vagli approximately five years ago. Our interest was immediately piqued but we were skeptical about whether Fractional Ownership would work for us and whether the Hamlet would be as nice as it looked on the Internet. Skepticism gave way to exploration and the beginning of a dialogue with Lee Cogher. Lee quelled our fears and the advantages of Fractional Ownership were apparent. It seemed that we would have optimal flexibility without any of the headaches! Last year on our 25th anniversary trip back to Italy, we visited Borgo di Vagli and immediately fell in love. We were charmed as we drove up the 2km road and laid eyes on the buildings and surrounding vineyards. We toured the property and ate a wonderful al fresco lunch under the pergola with Lee and met the wonderful resort director Stefania. On the way to the car our decision was made. Borgo was going to be our new home in Italy.We consummated our purchase in July and the rest is history. Our first trip in January with our close friends was fantastic. Over wine on the last night we spoke about how all our expectations had been surpassed. The residence was great and the views were fantastic. More importantly though we felt at home; we were part of something more.We will visit the Hamlet again in April with more friends and then in August with our two daughters whose college schedules have kept them from joining us on our first two trips. They can’t wait to see their new Italy abode for themselves as we have been regaling them with stories of our trip and pictures. We will round out this year with an October visit. That would make winter, spring, summer and fall visits all in the same year. Sounds like home to us.
